About 'Abar Alor Khoje'

The Bengali title ‘Abar Alor Khoje’ stands for ‘Again in Search of Light’. The story comprising of 15 divisions finally ends with Ritam, one of the main characters in the entire fiction, being on the verge of leaving his native land, North Bengal for his research-based appointment in TIFR, Mumbai. Earlier, while being in North Bengal he had got a ‘light’, but lost it through a dramatic twist. So, he has to resume his search for the desired light of life again from the scratch. This is the significance of the title of the story. So, the entire fiction basically revolves around Ritam’s life in North Bengal. The character of Sanjukta is almost equally important in the fiction. Sanjukta left the apolitical organization set up by Ritam to join in a political team in North Bengal. The story is crowded with a lot of characters. But Sanjukta’s father with having long experience of working in Tea Estates, Ritam’s mother with eventful experience of passing her childhood in Dooars, Ritam’s father with vast experience in making ‘pantoya’, all made their presence highly felt in the fiction. Obviously, the detailed life style of people of Tea Estates in the greenish Dooars, the campus of North Bengal university, the horrible jungle of Sukna, some of the striking troubles of North Bengal, the famous ‘pantoya’ of Fulbari, all these features are intensely included to satisfy the need of the story. The story expectedly will satisfy people of all ages. Readers especially with a passion on Dooars and Tea Estates must go through it once.

Apart from being available now-a-days in CROSSWORD (http://www.crossword.in) at Junction Mall in Durgapur, interested readers of course can borrow the book from my personal collection for a couple of days, but only as per availability.
